Sales Engineer (m/f/d) Battery Industry – Germany and Dongguan/China
Perspective to take responsibility for “Director Sales (m/f/d)” in China after three years


Your tasks and objectives:

  • Your objective is the coordination, planning, and monitoring of the customer projects, from drafting the quote to series approval, in close cooperation with the respective Sales Director in China while adhering to deadline, quality, and cost targets. This role is related to the perspective to take after about 3 years responsibility for the Director Sales position.
  • During the starting-out period in particular, your main priority will be evaluating customer needs and application consultation, including technical presentation of the products. For the first working period (half to one year) you will be located at the German site nearby Paderborn (North Rhine-Westphalia) in order to train you and provide you with all information needed.
  • In your function you will convey important technical information between China and Germany, namely between Engineering and Product Development in Germany, and the special needs of the Chinese market.
  • You will observe the market/product development of local providers and provide the necessary feedback to the team in Germany.
  • While executing the project you will coordinate the relevant divisions, e.g. Production, Quality Management, Supply Chain, etc., as well as international and external vendors.

  • You will assess client documents for completeness and plausibility (technical specifications, requirements, etc.).
  • You will complete the RFQ (Request for Quotation) database.
  • You will assess the technical drawings, coordinate them with the client, and approve them.
  • You will be responsible for the guidance, currentness, and implementation of customer-specific standards in cooperation with the divisions.
  • You will compile a detailed schedule with regard to resources (tools, divisions), deadlines, and costs.
  • You will prepare purchase orders to be sent to vendors.
  • You will conduct and coordinate the technical evaluation and determination of manufacturability.
  • You will compile the quote calculation and validation quotes, and then coordinate them.
  • You will be responsible for technical customer service and will tend to your customers through regular visits.
  • You will create and hold presentations at the customer's location, e.g. result reports of diagnosis or complaints, technical presentation of the validation quotes.
  • You will coordinate and regularly partake in convention appearances.


Your profile:

  • You possess a university degree as an engineer (e.g. mechanical) or technical professional qualifications.
  • You already have professional experience working on projects for about 3 years.
  • You already have sales experience in an industrial environment.
  • Ideally you already have industry experience in metalworking or metal forming.
  • Past experience in the battery industry is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Ideally you already have experience with complex technical products.
  • You have very good and confident English and Mandarin skills.
  • German skills are an advantage, but not mandatory.
  • Ideally you have SAP skills or another ERP system.
  • You are very willing to travel for about 50% of your entire employment period.
